Today is our final day of the 2021 Edition of the Jazz Workshop and Festival. Today we will be recording our Combo that has been rehearsing all week, both video and audio. Recordings of our in-person combos will be compiled and edited in the coming weeks.
Tonight at 6 pm we will present a faculty concert (at least our local faculty in concert!) at the Red Barn on the Southlands Property in Tsawwassen. Outdoors – weather permitting.
We begin Week 2 with our first in-person combo sessions. This week combos 1 & 2 will be in residence with us, combo 1 at the Kinsroom at McKee House in Ladner, and Combo 2 at the Red Barn at Southlands in Tsawwassen. Each group will have morning and afternoon rehearsals coached by jazz festival faculty. Also each day they will be presented a virtual faculty concert at 12 noon, followed by a virtual masterclass delivered to the students at both locations at the same time in real-time. We have set up Zoom rooms with large screen TVs in both locations to accommodate this.
We are using Google Classroom this year to share all of our workshop resources. Students should sign into their accounts at classroom.google.com to access the various classrooms that have been created for them (depending on the programs they signed up for).
Special thanks to Rob Kohler for designing the online format for us this year, and to all of the distance faculty who are with us virtually online this year! You have made this into a truly international jazz workshop!
So here we, are about to enter into week one of the online workshop.
This year the online content will be managed in Google Classroom. (classroom.google.com) If you are signed up for week one of the camp you should have already received invitations to Google Classroom. These were sent to the email addresses you provided at registration.
The classroom is where you will find all the communications from us about what is happening, your provided online resources and tracks, and the Zoom links to your classes.
All online classes will be held on the Zoom platform. You must download and update your Zoom installation on your computer or personal device in order to access our online classes.
Our first session will be on Zoom starting at 9:30 am Tuesday.
